Eloise Rose - Flying Fish Platter
Description
"Tell me, am I searching for something I have already found?" The words painted around the rim of this oval platter come straight from Eloise Rose's journals, written while she was travelling (this one at sea). In the middle, a flying fish in loose blue brushwork on a creamy glaze.
Eloise has always been drawn to old pieces: a worn jug on a Welsh dresser, a chipped plate, the marks left by makers nobody remembers. She reworks historical ceramics in her own painterly way, and storytelling sits at the heart of everything she makes. The result is something really special and emotive, and we felt such a pull to her work when we first saw it.
Each one is handmade from terracotta earthenware, then painted, glazed and fired in her London studio. Hang it on the wall instead of a print, or prop it up on a shelf.
